On Wood by nabey On Wood by nabey
Reference from *TikiLlanes

Trying yet another thing. I bought some wood panels the other day and decided to try pencils and pastels on them.
The scan though, is very bad, I couldn't bring out all the whites with the scan, the skin has a lot more white tones and you can't see them on the image.

Tools: Pencils and white pastel on wood panel
Size: 30x60 cm

Did ypu try playing with the levels to try and get it closer to the original? I think it looks awesome here but you maybe able to recover your original look by playing with the colour adjustments.

Very cool! Did you stain the wood at all or is this its natural colour? One thing i can't draw, is nostrils. KUDOS!

Thank you! it's its natural colour, I didn't want to change it. Although the colour is a bit different in the image than the real thing.

I really like this use of wood panels vs. paper....I have a friend who does wood burning but your portrait stands up pretty well!

Thank's so much! I had never worked with wood before, it was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it. I've seen a lot of great works with wood burning, it's amazing the amount of detail they can achieve...
